I am looking to move libraries from Logic Pro X Does anyone have good directions for how to accomplish this without disrupting the pathway for other projects? My fear is I move everything and Logic doesn't know where to find the audio for previous projects.

Here is a link to a video but it's 3 yrs old so I didn't know if there was a better way now or if this was the best way. What files should I move? I saw something in another thread about film composers. I only create house music with synths, etc. I found this link, which seems to answer my question. Please let me know if anyone feels differently or if anything has changed with the latest OS or Logic: My new Logic Pro Book is out! I used to periodically get system overload messages but since installing Komplete 11, I get these drop outs with this error message a lot.

I have read numerous articles that have recommended using an external hard drive. Native Instruments also recommeds this for Komplete I am certainly open to other suggestions.

I would troubleshoot your issue further before moving your content. If it's your CPU overloading, moving the content will not help at all. So a couple of questions:. If this is all true as you explained, then why do so many people recommend a 2nd external hard drive? Also, what do you recommend I do to resolve the issue? You would have to ask the people who make the recommendation. I rarely agree with blanket recommendations some of them make no sense at all , and I've seen their number rise exponentially in recent years on the internet.

Just like fixing a car, or repairing a human, the first thing you have to do is observe, and point to the culprit, then find a fix for it. In your case, your bottleneck is clearly the CPU and moving your samples to a 2nd drive won't help. You could freeze tracks, bounce them to audio, try using less plug-ins, or less CPU-hungry plug-ins, or get a new Mac with a faster CPU.

Are there simply a lot of people using insufficient hard drives or is this advice from the Apple website simply incorrect? It just seems odd that I started having exponentially more issues after I downloaded the Komplete 11 suite.

First, you have to realize that such an article is the equivalent of a medical article explaining what to do when you have headaches. No matter how experienced the doctor who wrote the article, he doesn't know you, he hasn't seen you, he hasn't asked you any questions about you, your symptoms, your life, your ancestors and their medical history, etc.

Such an article might well be useful, but won't replace an actual doctor visit, examination, diagnosis, follow-up, etc. Same here. The reason the article lists so many different potential solutions is basically because The 1st solution offered is "Quit other apps when using Logic Pro.

The 3rd solution is "Save projects with high track counts to a dedicated hard drive such as a solid-state drive. So basically it's offered there as a potential "something to try" and see if that helps or not in your case, because they don't have more precision about why you're getting that alert.

The 4th solution is about samplers and depends on your sampler settings. This is important. A sampler that loads whole samples in RAM, vs a sampler that loads partial samples in RAM and streams the remaining sample data from disk, won't behave the same, and won't require the same troubleshooting methods or solutions.

As for the next section, "Monitor system performance", they basically follow the same path I took here with you: you start by monitoring your resource use before diagnosing which resource is the bottleneck and devising potential fixes for your issue.

Problems concerning the performance have gone since I updated my RAM to max. Thanks David! I really appreciate the answers. I also spoke to a friend that manages a tech support team for PreSonus and he echoed everything you said. Thanks again! You can post now and register later. Installing Logic Pro I was a long time Logic user until Pro moving logic pro x samples to external hard drive free which I purchased but had to stop installing as my SDD was far too small to accommodate the library, though I have several very large external drives.

Does anyone know if it is possible or has done it to download the library directly - NOT installing on SDD then transferring - to an external HD when updating to Last edited by Elevteros; 27th October at AM. Sascha Franck. I have not tried installing the library elsewhere and probably won't, my startup drive is large enough to hold it for a while to comebut I think you can just set up /26525.txt new location with the bare minimum content loaded which is what Logic will install at the first downloadthen set another location.

When you then continue your library download, it'll automatically use that new location for the additional content. Thank you very much Sascha! I'll try it.

Could work indeed. A pain Moving logic pro x samples to external hard drive free I started the download and frankly it is quite a pain you know where! I was able приведенная ссылка download the essential files, relocate them onto an external drive. After that you have to download content bit by bit if your main drive is a small SDD otherwise you get a message "your drive is too small, please trash unecessary files, clean up smples drive etc Fine but it moving logic pro x samples to external hard drive free take ages.

Moreover the Apple loops and impulse files are not relocatable it seems. Why on earth didn't Apple just let us decide where we want all files located? This microsoft 2016 64 bit free moving logic pro x samples to external hard drive free for such a sophisticated DAW.

Yes, hard mobing understand the "motivation", if any. I must say when I had to samplex Logic I switched to Ableton Live which has bard of those circumvoluted fiddles. You just put your files wherever you want, have Live locating them once and you are done! Читать статью said, thank you very much for the tips and comments. Last edited by Elevteros; 31st October at AM. Just got crazier - that's it Logic, I've had it! Well here I am i the studio to continue downloading content, starting with about 1.

Absolute madness, or is there a work around? Doesn't seem to be. Last edited by Elevteros; 31st October at PM. Thank you! I did know about Symlinks, have it and tried it but it is rather dodgy and Logic didn't like that one bit, no matter what the Youtube videos show! I am still puzzled by the I guess Apple just wants us to get large expensive SDDs. The symbolic link seems moving logic pro x samples to external hard drive free.

HD is formatted HFS. And yes, Apple would like us to sell at least one kidney haed buy their pro stuff nowadays Leaving my Greek studio in a few days so this will now have to wait here for the winter. In Brussels Driev use a laptop so I'll try there the suggested method in a week. Very grateful for your inputs and help you are actually the only one who bothered. Moving logic pro x samples to external hard drive free Brussels Well I have things to do in Brussels That's life!

Well, I'm sure you're aware of them already, but don't miss their Pommes Frites. Possibly the best in the world.

Alright, here's an idea that should very likely work: - Clone your movnig drive to any external drive. Could basically be anything sufficiently large, so any cheap spinning HDD will do. I can't see why that wouldn't work. It's just a few hours of downtime the Apple servers fres sometimes painfully slow and cloning drives sampels take some time, too.

Thanks Sascha, Much obliged! Not only Apple servers are slow but connexions on the island are too! So this too will have to wait until I come back early February. Anybody who read my Logic book knows how the sound library download works which I describe in detail, including the location of the hidden dmg files that you can capture. That means, logc first stores the installer file locally even if you have relocated to an external location.

Also guys one more thing that I did, before doing all the above. I downloaded prl of the content, only couple of GB's worth. This was installed directly onto the system hard drive. Once here it asks you what Hard Drive you would like movinf move the already installed audio to.

So you just basically click your external HD, and it moves it over. Logic states in the manual that you only have to do this once with any amount of downloaded ableton live suite crack windows bit free content, samplse whenever anymore is downloaded it will automatically install it to that location, on your external HD.

You can try just doing this without xrive up an alias folder and see if that works for you, but I just did them both, then started the huge download and it worked! So im not sure if you need to both or lgic one of them. Good luck. Thanks Alexandra! Top Mentioned Manufacturers. Facebook Twitter Reddit LinkedIn. Subscribe to our mailing lists.
